Let’s be honest here – creating new habits isn’t easy and it doesn’t often happen overnight. But, being aware we want to change is absolutely the first step!

Why is journaling important?
- you create space to reflect on your thoughts, feelings and experiENCEs to better underSTAND yourself and your emotions.
- it is an effectIVE tool used to reduce stress and anxiety.
- you develop purposeful planning and intention setting skills and are kept accountable and motivated.
- you are able to tap into your creativity and self-expression.
- you become more mindful and encourage a habit of gratitude and appreciation too.
How can you create this powerful habit?
Here are a few strategies to get started on building your journaling habit:
- Set a regular time: Choose a specific time of day when you can dedicate a few minutes to journaling. For example, you might decide to write for 10 minutes every morning after you wake up, or 15 minutes before you go to bed.
- Keep your journal nearby: Keep your journal and pen in a place where you will see them often. This could be on your bedside table, in your work bag, or on your desk. When you see your journal, it can serve as a trigger to remind you to take a few minutes to write.
- Start small: If you’re new to journaling, it can be helpful to start with a small goal, such as writing for just 5 minutes a day. As you build your habit, you can gradually increase the amount of time you spend writing.
- Use prompts: Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to write about. Using prompts or questions can help spark your creativity and give you a starting point. There are some included in The Reconnection Journal to get you started.
- Make it enjoyable: Journaling should be a pleasurable experience, so make it enjoyable for yourself, for example writing with your favorite pen. You could also experiment with different writing styles, such as free-form writing or bullet journaling.
Remember, making journaling a habit takes time and effort, so be patient with yourself. Start small, find what works for you, and gradually build your habit over time.

“It is better to be real than to be perfect.” – Emily’s quotes
We need to give ourselves the space to make some decisions about how we want to live, what we want to let go of or bring in over the coming years and most likely to tweek some habits.
We want to gain more clarity around our purpose as we move into a new phase of our lives.
We want to feel deeply connected to who we are and what we love.
We need to interrupt the patterns we are in which no longer serve us.
